Hi I am very new here Ive only posted one thread so far and I had to post this because I was appalled at the treatment my 11 week old puppy just got bc she is a pit.
Let me first say that I have 2 other dogs (1 rot, 1 pit) that Ive been bringing there for 2 years and Ive never had any problems. I brought my pit, Luna, in today bc she has been scratching like crazy...to the point that she whines in pain in some of the spots. She also had a few scabs from playing, 2 were on top of her head.
So the dr walks in the room and says "you really love your pitbulls huh? Her look & tone made it quite obvious she doesn't like Pitts. She goes to take a scrape from two of the scabs and has trouble bc she wont sit still so she calls in the back that she "needs help with a human aggressive dog" and she didnt just cut the scabs off, she cut the skin and fur off, dthere's now blood all over her head...which she just leaves there and doesn't clean off or offer me something to clean her off. She then gave her a shot and was very rough with her. She asked me twice where i got her from and said "why did you want this dog? You didn't really want it did you? It was probably the last one left and someone could t get rid of it?
Testing comes back negative but she gives me an antibiotic & tells me to buy liquid Benadryl and give her 6 mm (she's 16.5 lbs) every 6 hours. Then she basically forces me to get her the 12 week distemp-parvo shot even though she's only barely 11 weeks.
My point is, she was extremely rude and it was beyond apparent that she doesn't like pitbulls. I spoke with a friend afterward and her brother had issues there too, they almost put his dog down saying they had permission but they didnt. Idk the details on that one but I was told the vets office doesn't like Pits. So I am definitely changing my vet.
Has anyone had this happen to them before? Had your vet treat you badly bc of the breed of your dog? Im afraid to even follow her dosing instructions so I called another vet office. Im calling there tomorrow so I can get all my records.
