This is for those of us in the Northern Hemisphere ;).
I don't know about anyone else, but I love focusing our exercise and conditioning efforts for the winter months, where overheating is more difficult to do. Also, especially around here, there are not a lot of outdoor activities when there's snow on the ground, so it's a perfect time to get in shape for the spring/summer activities!
Does anyone have any plans? Are you using a pre-made program or one of your own? What sports/activities are you conditioning your dog(s) for? Looking to just get into better shape? What are you feeding? Are you using any supplements? Any tools/equipment/etc that you utilize? Any other aspects to the program you have questions about or want to share, feel free!
Just making this so people can discuss it, and maybe, if you're the type of person that needs to do something in a 'group', maybe it's the push you need to get you and your dog up and moving this winter! I know getting in shape can be a daunting task- knowing how hard to push your dog without risking injury, knowing what to do to avoid injury, working on different muscle groups, increasing cardiovascular endurance appropriately, stretching/massage aspects, and learning what to do if an injury does arise- so much to consider!
Happy working! And remember, your dog will think he/she can work harder than he can, especially in the first few weeks. Just because they want to keep going doesn't mean they should. A little bit of patience now will avoid injury later!
