Onich and Mason

I just brought home a 7 week old pit. I have a 5 year old pit already. Just wondering what the normal reaction should be by my 5 year old. They've been properly introduced and go on walks together. My 5 year old basically ignores the puppy except when he gets too close. Then he growls. He won't bite the puppy I know. Onich is the 5 year old and Mason is the puppy. What should I expect from Onich. Right now Onich is healing from torn

acls and is on pain meds so I don't expect him to be playful. Onich also takes the puppy's toys and tears them up so I could use some advice on this subject.
