I rescued 8.5 year old "Lady" this past May and she is in pretty decent health overall. Apart from some skin allergies (which seem mostly under control, thankfully) she doesn't have any obvious health problems. I feed her Earth's Pride Duck & Vegetable and/or Earth's Pride Chicken & Brown Rice - she does equally well on both and rarely has any blatantly obvious tummy problems. She's currently on a steroid (every 3 days) and an antibiotic (2x day), as well as 10mg Claritin daily, to combat what the vet thinks is folliculitis brought on by allergies.
My concern is that she often seems to be cold - my father always comments on how she "curls up in a ball, like she's trying to stay warm." Personally I think she sleeps the way most dogs do. She definitely loves the warmth of the sun, though, and she moves room by room following the sun during the day, and at night she loves to be wrapped up in a blanket. I live in Rhode Island and lately we've been experience a bit of a cold snap; this morning while in the car I noticed that Lady was shivering quite a bit, which is the second or third time I've noticed her like that this week, but only been happening very recently. My dad also says she seems to be very lethargic when I'm not home - I don't get to see this side of her, because she's always super excited to see me when I get home.
I'd normally be worried that she's reacting to the steroids or antibiotics, but she's been on both for several weeks now. I've seen many pictures of pitbulls in my area (B.O.N.E.) that wear sweaters/jackets. Is it common for pitbulls to have a hard time keeping warm (due to their short coat, perhaps)? I've been searching for a winter jacket for her but I'm having a hard time finding one that fits her (Grandpa spoils her WAY too much!).
Any thoughts, suggestions, and input are greatly appreciated!
Thanks,
Stina
PS here's a pic of Lady curled up AND covered up :)

Signs of being cold? Or possibly something else?
