Hello from Indianapolis,

My name is Deb and I recently brought a 3.5 year old girl into my home from the shelter.

I have been training and showing dogs since the age of 13, it is my passion. Having retired from showing a few years back, I now concentrate on just training for the joy of training.

My ex had a nice APBT boy that I lived with for a number of years. This is where my appreciation of the breed began.

When I my ex left, he took Jake with him. I missed him terribly (The dog, not the ex).

I recently lost my 8 year old Rottweiler, Harley, to osteosarcoma. It was the first time I didn't have a dog in my home.

My friends suggested that I just go visit the shelter and hang out with the dogs. I found Flora on one of my first visits and the rest is history.

She had apparently had puppies shortly before she was brought in as a stray, had an upper respiratory infection AND was heartworm positive.

Fortunately, she is over the respiratory infection, and has had her final heartworm treatment. (Is on exercise restriction until the week before Thanksgiving) and is doing very well.

Because of her exercise restrictions we are just doing a lot of stationary obedience work, which she is catching on to very quickly.

I welcome any suggestions anyone might have of other activities to help keep this very active girl's mind occupied during this difficult down time.

I look forward to reading a lot of great information on here and learning a lot.

Deb
