I was at the agility barn last week with Frankie. There were a few other people there as well. When I walked in, there was an Aussie in a crate that FREAKED out at every dog coming in. The owner moved his crate to a lower traffic area.
I worked Frankie, then tied her outside the ring and was helping the owner organize some stuff in the shop (she sells dog toys, treats & my leashes)
We heard yelling and dogs barking & growling. Step out, and the Aussie had left the ring and gone after Frankie (she is fine) The gal was VERY upset, crying, hugging Frankie (after she threw the Aussie in the car), giving her treats, kept saying she was sorry, etc. I felt bad so for her, super nice gal.
Last night, I had Rosie at the barn for practice. The owner said the Aussie is banned from the barn, unless the trainer is there and all gates are closed. She also said that if it had to happen, she is glad it was Frankie. As strange as it sounds, I have to agree with her. Had it been any other dog, there would have been a huge fight. Frankie just hunkers down and looks, like "what did I do wrong". She is totally fine, she was playing with the owner BC and a Beagle shortly afterwards.
This was a totally different response than I got from an incident at a trial last month.
There was a Belgian Turv waiting at the in gate, I walked Frankie between the two rings and this dog lunged at her. She MIGHT have looked at him, but a friend said she didn't.
After the trial the owners approached me and said their dog needs a large bubble, like it's my responsibility to stay away from their dog, rather than their responsibility to keep their dog in a safe place. They never said they were sorry or anything. (This dog lunged at another dog a couple weeks later)

Unusual compliment and different reactions
