So my pitbull is 2 years old and he's a huge baby. Yeah yeah yeah, everyone says their pitbull is a big baby but Diesel is a HUGE baby. He's scared of pretty much everything, he barks at stuff and growls but when it comes down to it he'd run and hide behind me or my Dad. He is my dog and in his eyes I am the pack leader and my dad is basically the granpaw that spoils him rotten. He has seperation anxiety extremely bad. He has ruined two cages and basically destroys anything he can find in house if I leave him alone. I've tried crate training etc but he wants nothing to do wih it. He has to sleep with me or my dad every night, and its not just sleeping with us, he has to be touching or basically be laying on top of us. He also always has to lay right at our feet or be on the couch with us. I know it sounds like a normal dog but I've never seen a dog that is as big of a baby as him. He also has issues with jealousy/agression of other dogs, if we are petting another dog and not paying attention to him, he will either get mad at the dog or jump and shove it out of the way so we pet him.
Now for the aggression, we used to have an english bulldog that recently past away of old age. 11 years old. Well whenever nemo would be eating his dog food diesel will stare and shake and his muscles and veins start popping out. Normally he will not do anything if we tell him no or to be nice. But if he is the one eating food and nemo would even attempt to simply walk by, diesel would instantly attack. Now he never hurt nemo, even if we werent there, once he got nemo on his back and showed his dominance he would stop and go eat his food again. I've read that some dogs will do that no matter how much to try to train them not to so it is best to feed pitbulls in separate rooms. Well then it turned into him randomly attacking nemo for absolutely no reason, we would be standing in the barn and you can tell by looking at him when he is about to pounce, and out of no where charges and starts attacking. Now everytime I have split them up he has never snapped or showed me any type of aggression. This agression will come up with random dogs too, which has kept me from taking him to dog parks etc. Some dogs he is fine with, but others, theres an instant aggression.
But now I have noticed this aggression show up towards humans. For the first 2 years, (turned 2 in august), I have never seen him show any agression towards humans at all, but lately, when I have friends come over, he will be fine one minute, all happy go lucky, and then if they don't pet him or pay any attention, or sometimes are afraid of him (he looks extremely mean), he will growl and jump up at there face. He's never bit anyone or snapped at them when he does this, but he has done it to 4 seperate people now. It's almost like he wants them to play with them but then again its not that type of growl, it is a growl of agression instead of the growl he uses when we play together. Now of course each time I have been there and told him to be nice and its okay and he licks my face and gets super excited.
I race dirtbikes and we are at the track almost every weekend with lots of people, he has never showed that aggression to anyone besides one little kid that we always park next to. The kid is 5 years old and knows that diesel doesnt like him, so he almost eggs him on which is frustrating. But regardless he shouldnt do that. He has twice now jumped on him and pushed his shoulders with his paws, never snapped, but growls like he is mad.
I'm not sure what to do but I know I cannot have my dog be this way and Im not sure what is causing it or how to stop it. I fear that one of these times he will snap, or not stop and it could be really ugly, especially for the 5 year old.
