Hi everyone, first time posting on the site. My bf and I recently rescued a neighbor's pit who we've named Sweet P. We believe her to be around 2 years old. She's quickly gotten attached to us and our three other dogs and has been fairly well behaved. We've gotten her on a steady routine and taught her a few commands (sit, lie down, wait, crate). But we're having a really tough time discouraging climbing. She constantly wants to climb into our laps, step on us, etc., and no amount of pushing her down, saying "Down!", or asking her to sit/rewarding with a treat seems to be making any difference. It's especially difficult getting her to back off when we're eating. I'm thinking competition with the other three dogs for attention/resources isn't helping. Anyone had this problem and can offer any suggestions for correcting the behavior? Thanks so much!
Need help dealing with climbing behavior in new rescue!
