Sorry to make a new thread for this but I figure I'll get more responses here.
Dakota got spayed on Monday, and the hand out from my vet says she should stay quiet and calm for 12-14 days and keep activities minimal and relatively inactive for 7 days after her stitches come out which is at the 12 day mark.
My internet research says that 5-7 days is perfectly sufficient for staying kenneled most of the time.
I live on the third floor of an apartment building with no elevator. Since her spay, we switched to puppy pads in the living room just because I don't want her walking up and down all of those stairs multiple times a day until she can do it without risking extra injury.
Today was her last day of pain meds and she seems like she's starting to act like her old self. I was wondering how long you guys would start going back up and down the stairs? I did ask my vet when I picked her up and they said "At least not until her stitches are out. Probably not until after."
I wasn't super impressed but I was willing to deal with it but then after reading what I did on the internet I no longer think this is reasonable.
And then I get paranoid so I would just like personal opinion and experience.
Sorry for the ranty post. I'm not one for the "short and sweet" I provide way to much detail.
