Moving to a BSL town

dimanche 22 mars 2015

I'm curious about your thoughts. I've been house hunting for a while now and have not even considered moving to a nearby town because they have BSL.

It's not a terrible law (as far as BSL goes). If the dog is out in public, you must have the dog on a max 6' lead. Your yard must be completely enclosed with a fence of at least 5'. The gate to the yard must be spring-loaded so it's always shut without excuse. And you must have a "beware of dog" sign.

Like I said, I never considered purchasing here based strictly on principle. But as time has passed and I've found my budget to be very restricting, the homes available in this town are much more reasonable with how much space you get based on the money spent. Basically, I can get a nice place for the same amount of money I'd spend on a dump where I'm currently hunting.

I actually don't have an issue with any of the requirements except the dog sign and the fact that it's BSL, period.

Plus, the punishment for not following said laws are fines, not confiscation.

Anyway, what are your thoughts on intentionally moving to a BSL town that has restrictions such as these?
