Hello! New pit puppy owner

Hi -- I'm Chris and have adopted a 1-year-old pit/pit mix. (No one seems quite sure.) I've raised a purebred pit bill and a pit cross many years apart. I lost my beloved pit cross Sunny over Christmas of complications from epilepsy, and just adopted Cocoa last night. I jumped on this forum when I felt overwhelming anxiety and panic after I brought her home! I forgot that a great 10-year-old dog who has been with you all his life is a LOT less trouble than a new younger dog. Oops. But we're getting in the swing of things today and she's a sweet little dog. The cats don't think so but I successfully trained Pirate and Sunny to ignore cats, so we're on that road with Cocoa. Takes a while.
