Outside dog info

Howdy everyone, as some of you may know I have another dog, Adore, who lives with my parents at the moment. She was initially a house dog but when my sister and her two small children (both less then 2 years old) moved back in she was moved outside due to her excess energy and my nephew being afraid of her. I don't mind her being outside but there a few things I'd like to change.

The first thing I want to ask for is can anyone give simple instructions for a proper chain setup, preferably with pictures too. Simple enough for my dad not to complain about it being too complicated. She's currently kept in a kennel that has no door and she's chained inside of it. My main problem is that she's constantly getting tangled on the side and can't move around as much as if it weren't there. And she could easily hop the fence and hurt herself which happened to a previous dog so I'd think my dad would know

My last question is should we make her gain more weight to stay warm? She's always been on the thin side but my dad changed her food so she's gained some weight, but not a lot, my dad thought she was too skinny to begin with. She's 10 months old and around 40 lbs. I like her weight but I don't want her to freeze. My parents are currently keeping her in the garage but that's getting inconvenient so she probably won't be there long.

I want to make the next 7 months as easy for them as possible. I don't want them getting annoyed with how much work she is because she's nothing but energy. She's a handful for them and I'll be taking her off their hands soon enough, but I want to make their time with her as painless as possible. She's the dog I hoped Adonis would be, minus the slight DA, and boy am I glad they're not both the same, I'd lose my mind haha.

And just because I miss her cuteness :)
