Dog skin issues/shedding

jeudi 29 janvier 2015

My 2.5 year old pit bull slug has been dealing with some skin issues lately. He's developed a bald spot on his head and has been prescribed anti-fungal cream. This problem has been slowly getting worse over the past 3-6 months. Over the past week, he developed a rash back in his groin area and around the flanks in sides. He was prescribed a malacetic shampoo which i bathed him in this afternoon. is it normal for him to be shedding more than normal following a bath with or without this type of shampoo? i've never paid attention to his shedding following baths before this recent skin/coat issue, but he seems to be shedding much more than usual when pet him this afternoon. also, should i worry about the malacetic shampoo drying out his skin? He's always had a bit of a dry coat, which i've tried to combat with omega fatty acids and salmon oil in his grain-free diet, so i'm worried bathing him with this type of shampoo might leave him itchier than ever. any help/input would be very appreciated
