Start with Acana, ToTW, Blue Wilderness, etc then feed Orijen (lower activity level)?

I want to start feeding my dog better food. Ive have a ton of research and I was honestly set on Orijen. Although, I read a couple posts and articles about how the high protein content in Orijen, while great for reallyactive dogs, can actually be harmful to dogs that are not as active (all the protein isnt used to repair muscle. its passed though the kidneys and does harm to them).

Ive had my dog for 7 months now, but ive been so caught up with work, school, and putting weight on him (he was super skinny when we adopted him), that I havent really put a lot of emphasis on woring him out. Now, hes only 12mo old, so he still goes ape $#@! for no reason and goes up and down our hallway 12 hundred times in a row, but still. When we move into our own place (girlfriend and I) we will finally have a backyard so we can take him outside a lot easier and without worrying. He will have plenty of exercise and will lose the fat he accumulated.

Since he isnt used to working out, and my girlfriend and I STILL have a pretty busy schedule (regardless of our new house), we will probably take it slow for a little bit. Is it better to feed him another high quality food with less protein(I was thinking Acana since its made by Orijen) until we put him on a tougher routine?
