Looking for advice on how to train for food refusal without using a cue word

mercredi 4 février 2015

Hi all,

I have a 9 month old blue-nosed pit. She is my fourth pit, and by far, the most difficult I have owned. I got her at 4 months old and quickly realized that the reason she was free to a good home was due to the fact that she has/had (I say had a we have come a long way) pretty severe dog aggression. We found an awesome trainer and she is doing amazingly well. At cl$#@! last night, we worked on leaving food alone that is on the ground. She does awesome with that as long as I am beside her. In two weeks, we up the ante and our homework is, food refusal with handler at a distance. This trainer does not like us to use 'leave it' or 'drop it' cues. (Which is what I have trained in the past.) Any suggestions?
