Hello,
My 3 1/2 year pitty, Dahli keeps getting split toenails, which are very painful for her. Last year she got two, I added mol$#@! to her diet gave her aspirin and kept them clean, they grew back just fine. Two more have split this year, they're always on the front paws, and it only happens in the winter. I'm wondering if it might be easier for her to get the trouble toenails amputated. I'm going to have to bring her to the vet this time, it's been over a month since one split and the fleshy inside of the quick is totally exposed, no sign of healing.
I still haven't found a vet since we moved over a year ago. Does anyone know what an average price for amputation is? If they do recommend it, I want to have an idea of what a standard price is so I can tell if the vet cares more about profit than they do about animals being well.
Has anyone here also dealt with this? What do you recommend?
