This wasnt always so.*In 2010, HSUS was supposed to be an exhibiting sponsor at CPAC, but that came to screeching halt when CPAC organizers figured out that HSUS is really*an extremist animal liberation group.*Five years, later, HSUS is trying to weasel its way back into one of the largest gathering of conservative activists in the country. Were not exactly sure why*CPAC would allow HSUS in, considering HSUS is anything but conservative.
Some examples of HSUSs leftwards tilt:
- When it comes to political spending, 80% of HSUS money spent though its lobbying arm Humane Society Legislative Fund (HSLF) and corresponding PAC goes to fund Democratic candidates and liberal causes, according to FEC records.
- HSLF*went all-in*on Democratic Sen. Mary Landrieus losing runoff campaign in 2014. It spent $132,000 * more than twice the $53,000 donated by the Democratic State Central Committee * making it the biggest liberal spender in the runoff.
- *In 2012, HSLF*spent more than $750,000*opposing*conservative Rep.*Steve Kings reelection in Iowas Fourth Congressional District. Notably, this accounted for*more than half its political action budget.
- HSUS is*trying to ban lead ammunition*for hunters, which sets a bad precedent for all shooters. HSUSs allies in the radical environmental movement are hoping to go further and ban lead ammo from target ranges. HSUS*s CEO has accused the National Rifle $#@!ociation of being an extremist group.
It seems strange to us that an extremist animal liberation group whose political arms spend 80% of their candidate money on left-leaning candidates and causes would want to hobnob with conservative activists. But dont worry, HumaneWatch will be there to expose the true aims of HSUS. Stay tuned.
