HI Everyone,
We are a family of two 5 year old boys, a cat, parrot and various reptile and recently a 5 week pit bull we named Frankie. We have had him for two weeks so as of today he is 7 weeks old. He will be getting shots this weekend since he will be 8 weeks by then.
During the past two weeks of having him he has learned to relive himself on newspaper, sit for his food and on command. He seems to be a quick learner and I am trying to teach him these things as soon as we can to keep him in check.
The only thing, at the time we adopted him I was unaware that he was too young because he was fully weaned. He lost out on valuable playing time with his litter mates and time from his mom. And because of this valuable loss in time, he is quit nippy and bite us all very hard. I have curbed this nipping the past two days thanks to watching training videos but its very rough for my boys. All their time together is supervised but sometimes these nips are fast!!
I did call the lady who I got the dog from, she was a but defensive when I asked whether we could get our pup together with any liter mates she had left and told me that her children can do anything to their pits such as poke their eyes, which I responded that is not very animal friendly and I would never let my kids do that. Unfortunately, litter mate playtime is not an option for Frankie so we are trying our best.
Any advice?
