Just because you YELL IT LOUDER doesn't mean the dog will understand (rant/question)

I'm just frustrated that people think that just blindly yelling at a dog will in ANY way make them do what you want. They literally JUST THINK YOU ARE MAD. Yelling "get out of the kitchen! go on!!" doesn't mean anything to her. The command "OUT" does mean something, and theres no need to yell. Is it so hard to think of one of the (many) commands Scully knows to make her do something else?...lack of obedience is not one of her failings. UGH I HATE people who just, don't get how dogs operate. It makes me sad how many dogs go through their lives having no idea what they are doing wrong, but constantly getting yelled at :(

BUT it doesn't help that there are times when I don't have a way to make the unwanted behavior stop (like staring at someone when they are eating, or sitting really closely and being clingy).

Some things I really need: A way to teach "away" or "back off." She has a tendency to get up in peoples grills. I would like to reliably have a way to get her to be like, 3-5 feet away (she already knows "settle down" which is to go lay down in her bed). Oddly enough, "leave it!" works on occasion, but only if its said about someone else (it doesn't work to get her away from you if you say it). I've tried tossing treats but it only makes her think we are doing "find it!" and it becomes more about anticipating where I'll toss the treats rather than "this means I need to back up."

P.S. If you are wondering, I had it out with one of my roommates today about the way they talk to Scully so I'm handling that aspect of it and have it (I believe) under control now.
