Diesel (our pit/DDB mix puppy) is now 16 weeks old and had suddenly developed an extreme terror of the lawn mower.
He had not had any negative experiences with any lawn mowers and while just last week the sound made him a little wary now it has him cowering and shaking in fear, trying to hide, crawl into my lap etc.
Even when I brought him inside while my fianc* finished up he was still shaking in terror. His fear was so great that even after the lawn mower turned off I couldn't convince him to go back into the yard on his own and he loves playing in the yard.
I ended up picking him up and carrying him into the yard and then initiated okay with our 14 year old dog at that point it only took diesel a few minutes to decide he also wanted to have fun and forget his fear.
I was really shocked at the strength of his fear. Maybe he is entering his "fear stage"? Does anyone have any tips for making him feel secure when he is panicking like that?
Also a cute pic from after the mower turned off but before I convinced him to play again. He does the best sad puppy eyes and it just tugs my heart like nothing else.
