Hello, I am posting to get some input on the best way to correct/redirect an unwanted behavior. Bella, now five and a half months old, has an issue with licking. She obsessively licks my mother's dog around the mouth. The age of which she was found can clearly cause these kind of issues and I am hoping to get the best advise on correcting this issue.
Bella was very young, approximately 5 weeks old, when she was found. It is unknown how old she was when she was actually left by herself. She has supervised visits with my mother's three dogs, but she only displays this behavior when around the golden retriever. She only targets that specific dog, which has relatively clean mouth (as far as a dog goes). I had never rescued a dog as young as Bella, as adult dogs are my preference, so I would really like to hear if anybody had these issues and how to correct it without creating a negative $#@!ociation with the retriever itself.
Thank you,
Megan
