So, the "watch me" command that started out as a way to direct Calypso's attention away from other dogs when on walks has somehow gone wrong. Not sure when, but gradually it has happened and now it's so bothersome that I need to do something about it.
When we see other dogs, at a safe distance away she should (and used to) get into a sit, and then look at me for treats. When out on walks, she pretty much got a treat every time (or every OTHER time, once she started abusing this) she looked at me. This worked fairly well for a while, but I wouldn't say she ever mastered it.
NOW what happens is that she looks/stares at me constantly when we are walking and no other triggers are around, but when we see another dog she either pulls, or I can get her into a sit but it is rare she looks at me until the other dog has already passed.
What happened here, and what can I do to fix it?
