Negative consequences? Thoughts on not always being "positive only?"

Wondering thoughts on physical correction? Scully has gotten better at mouthing, but when she stops trying to jump and finally sits (I have people ignore her), when the person goes to pet her she will do a sort of Alligator mouth thing (Shes in play mode as well) at their hands. Never comes close and she doesn't actually close her mouth (it's just her mouth popping open). Anyways, keeps doing it even after us ignoring her so finally I collar popped her, scolded her, AND told my friend to ignore her completely. THEN she was well behaved when I allowed her back to join us.

I hate negative reinforcement usually but I've noticed with some things it makes her snap out of it. I know "positive only" training is a big thing but what are people's thoughts on sometimes using negative too? I don't mean hitting but stern words, collar pops, etc?
