Hello all...hoping people here might be able to give me some advice. We are adding a 2nd pitbull today the rescue is putting her with us for a 2 week trial. She is 10 months old, and was found in Detroit in pretty bad shape. 70 puncture wounds, eye damage and left for dead In the trash. She has been recovering for the last 3 weeks. Its not like I am bringing a pup in with no issues. So, what special things should I do - for her as well as making sure Tigger and her get along. I have a cage for her, bought the food..now what? I would $#@!ume a dog that has already been through so much will have issues. I have read on this site that a 2 week shut down should be done, but I only have 2 weeks to see if she will be a good fit for our family. Tigger does not like rough play, does get along with other dogs and is pretty much the best dog I have ever had. I also have concerns this might change him. I want to do what is best for both dogs. A bit worried about aggresion and temperment. Anything I should look for? Signs to watch? Corrective action I should take? I am $#@!uming for a dog like this positive reinforcement would be best. Tigger has run of the house and this pup being in a cage, will that cause issues? Should Tigger be able to see her in the cage or should she be in a different room with the door closed while we are at work? So many questions..any advice would be appreciated. Thank You!
