Unsure how to exercise my pit bull

dimanche 15 mars 2015

I have a male lab and a male game pit bull and they get along fine other than the occasional spats over dog bone sharing. Recently I moved to New York temporarily from Cali (my car is in Cali) and it's been a tough issue exercising my pit bull in crammed New York because he is not good with other dogs nor does he like them other than my male lab. I recently left him with a sitter and when I got him back, to my surprise, he became absolutely horrific to walk down the street. I'm not sure what happened while the sitter walked him but the level of dog aggression is at a whole new level. It's absolutely embarrassing.

His dog aggression was manageable at the dog park so long as he had the ability to satisfy his obsessiveness with tennis balls. And he will chase the damn ball non stop for 3-4 hours no problem because he doesn't like to play with other dogs other than my male lab at home. However, there is barely any room for us at these small New York dog parks and he has so much built up aggression from lack of exercise right now that he has resorted to just wanting to fight other dogs and puppies while we are outdoors.

I really am at loss on how to exercise him since a simple walk ends badly as soon as sees the large number of dogs on the street....and now the dog park is a no go. I plan on getting him a treadmill when I move to a home in Texas in 5 months so I can burn a lot of his energy off, but right now....I'm not sure what to do?
