He is doing a little better. MOST of the swelling is down, but he's still limping.
Did more x-rays and didn't see anything concerning. Another needle biopsy got more unclear results, but there is a definite lump under his shoulder muscle.
The vet gave us 3 options.
1. Ultrasound with biopsy in Seattle
2.She could go thru the shoulder muscle and take a slice of the lump to biopsy
3. Do no further testing, just keep him comfortable.
We are going with option 3. I am 95% sure he has cancer, and the vet agrees with me. We don't need to spend the money or to keep poking and prodding him for that 5%. We'd already decided when he as his first cancerous lump removed almost 4 years ago, that we wouldn't treat it, just keep him comfortable.
I'm starting to wean him off the prednisone, and he will finish off the antibiotics he's on. I have plenty of pain med if/when they are needed.
He will still leave a room when I come in. The vets thinking is it could be that he $#@!ociated me with pain. I take them to the school to play, he overdoes it and hurts. Take them for a walk, he hurts. I take them to the beach, he overdoes it and hurts. I do all the training and won't let him ignore a command. DH gives him cookies and naps with him.
