Barking...make it stop

vendredi 10 octobre 2014

My 2 year old pittie barks all the time. She is constantly running to the windows if she hears something. Someone walking down the street, a car going by, kids playing, etc. And God forbid someone knocks on the door. She will also stand right in front of someone that enters our house and bark at them. Even if they come over a lot. My daughter comes over almost every day to pick up my grandson after work and she barks at her. She has never bitten or even snapped. She just like intimidates people. She isn't that big or bully. We can take her out on her lead in a crown like a festival, downtown, park, etc. and she doesn't notice people or dogs. She will stand in between my grandson and his parents if they are trying to get him to leave. She is extremely protective of him. He is 3. I have tried telling her quiet, shh and giving her treats when she does what I say. She doesn't just do it when someone comes in. They may have been there a while and she has ignored them and suddenly will be in front of them looking them in the eye and barking at them. Even though I feel very confident that she will not bite a part of me knows she is a dog and anything is possible. Is there a way to work with her or do I just have to crate her when we have company? She likes people for the most part. She just acts like she is going to eat you up. It scares people.
