Question on Parvo and keeping puppies at home (Exercise for other dog)

mercredi 15 octobre 2014

Hi guys,

We currently have a 2yr old Pit mix and he is doing great. A model dog. We just got today an 8 week old ASCA registered female Blue Meryl Australian Shepherd puppy.

I adopted my pit mix at 5 months old with all of his shots done, and there has not been a single day that he has not got at least a 1 mile walk. Day in, day out rain or shine.

Now with the puppy, I am not sure how to make sure that she doesn't get any virus' (namely Parvo I am reading) until all the shots are done. What should I do to ensure that she is safe, while my pit mix is getting the exercise he needs?

I am reading that there is to be NO leaving the household or yard for any dog or animal within the household until the puppy has completed all their shots (she has the first rnd of distemper and parvo so far)

What is your guys' take on this?

What are my options for the next 8-10 weeks until all the puppy's shot's are done to ensure that my current pit mix is having the exercise he needs?

Thanks,
