Hello first time poster on forums!
so I have a pitbull mix(1year and a half) that I spent hundreds on training professionally so he knows all of the basic commands such as sit down stand come stay heel. He performs them mainly without hiccup but on occasion he slips through the door when my roommate opens it or someone comes into my house. I have a very small house so there's no way to beat him to the door every single time. It's random as we'll sometimes he will run to the front lawn and do nothing versus other times he will run for an hour until he lottery cannot run anymore from pure exhaustion. She. He starts running he stops listening to all commands and just books it. I do have a remote shock collar for training as he was a wild card. I dont always keep this on as it is not recommended too I believe. Whenever he goes on these runs I simply just wanna drag him all the way back to the pound. Hr ran away again and went farther then he has ever been. A good 2 miles but he came backs surprisingly panting like I've never seem before. If he was any older I'm positive he would of had a heart attack!
What the heck can I do about this? Why does he randomly run away? It can't be from not enough exercise that's taken care of and I feed him an ample amount. I'm a dog groomer for crying out loud.
