so I think i know my answer, but i am curious if this is something anyone has run into. I signed up for a basic obedience cl$#@! for Albert, it is an akc place, which i chose only because cgc tests are held there regularly and that is what we are training towards. the cl$#@! was listed as a positive reinforcement, operant conditioning basic manners cl$#@!. i paid already, but today i got a thing in the mail asking me to buy a basic chain slip collar for the cl$#@!. in my mind this implies a certain amount of compulsion. i will eat the 150 dollars and move on unless anyone has experience with a trainer just being stuck on a slip collar while generally working through operant and classical conditioning. the woman i spoke to on the phone was lovely, she asked about Albert's attitude towards dogs like a real pit bull savvy person, she said the only way that da would be an issue would be if he can't be leashed near other leashed dogs (he is totally nonreactive to dogs that don't get in his face) i liked her so much that i am reluctant to back out, but who requires a slip chain collar in 2014?
positive reinforcement?
